Thanks for seein' about a girl, friend. here's where I'm writing my own history—for you, for me and anyone else who needs to laugh to keep from cryin' every once in awhile.

We girls & a bit more on me.

We girls theorize hypothesize proselytize

in person over the phone via the computer.

The game "telephone" is still real as we tag one another with tidbits you're it -

my therapist, my soothsayer, my this-is-how-boys-play-mind-games role player.

We girls

say, "i have to tell you" and then we tell it, spilling it -

gossip, revelations, i-told-you-so's to which i always respond, "i'm sayin'."

We girls

break news sometimes we pause and gasp other times we just bust out with laughs

squealing and erupting.

When what you have to tell me has been told immediately we launch into chatter

springing from the "what the fuck?" diving board straight into the heart of the matter - the deep end that is female speculation (a Herculean "sport" of emotional, fantastical proportions sprouting more theories than Medusa's head had snakes).

We a, b, c, d our options - there are always options - usually choosing all of the above

we wonder aloud almost every day about this crazy biggie thing called love.

In other news, Rachel has moved from those blogthings to these survey things, which I rather enjoy. So this evening we talk firsts ... not ALL the firsts, but a decent overview nonetheless.

1. Who was your first prom date? Well surprise, surprise, you know I didn't have a date. Unless you count the girls, or unless you count (PHS's first) Freshman Dance, which would force me to acknowledge that the one time I bowed to peer pressure was when I agreed to go with Gary Hendricks. I'm still not pleased with myself about that.

2. Who was your first roommate? Miss Ashley.

3. HAVE YOU MADE OUT WITH ANYONE ON YOUR LJ FRIEND'S LIST? Uh, naw.

4. What was your first job? Rec volleyball coach.

5. What was your first car? the '88 nissan 200sx

6. How old were you when you first moved away from your hometown? I was four when I bid adieu to Clemson.

7. Who was your first Best Friend and are you still friends with them? My first best friend? Oooh wee, that requires me to go way back! I'm going to say James Harper from kindergarten - Mrs. Sullivan's class - and no, we didn't make it past kindergarten with our friendship, because I'm thinkin' that he didn't make it out of kindergarten when I did.

8. Where did you live the first time you moved out of your parent's house? The dorms at USC - Preston College - swanky by dorm standards at the time, but also pegged as the artsy, fartsy freak hall.

9. Who is the first person you call when you have a bad day? Um, nobody. I hate using the phone.

10. What was the first concert you ever went to? New Edition with Kim where we snuck backstage and I smacked Bobby Brown on the back by accident. He was jus' bein' Bobby Brown, too, tryin' to get my sister to go to his hotel room ...

11. First celebrity crush? Ralph Macchio.

12. DO YOU LIKE HAVING YOUR HAIR PULLED? No, and really? Who wrote this? This isn't as fun as I thought it was gonna be ... and this does not reference any firsts ...

13. First crush? Ben Bolt. It was love at first reading correction - I stumbled over island and he corrected me by putting his arm around my shoulder while explaining how the "s" is silent.

14. First Slow Dance? My daddy, too! Otis Redding - These Arms of Mine

15. First car accident? When that old man saw me coming but pulled out anyway. I'd had my first car for friggin' less than 2 weeks!

16. First time getting sent to the Principal's Office? Ricky McLaughlin - the little shrimp - called me the n-word in fifth grade and I jacked his ass up against the chalk board.

17. First "real" job out of school? PR at RF

18. Who is getting on your nerves right now? Some neighbor outside my door who's talkin' all kinds of loud in the hallway when it'd be best if she went into her apartment.

Idol chit-chat.
