Thanks for seein' about a girl, friend. here's where I'm writing my own history—for you, for me and anyone else who needs to laugh to keep from cryin' every once in awhile.

Back from the future

Special shout-out for my friend Molly for providing today's writing prompt: Ok, it's 10 years from now and you're looking back at your life, which would you rather say that you did?

I would rather say that when the time came I heeded the Whoopi-as-Oda-Mae-Brown-sounding warning that said, "Danita, girl. You in danger. Danger of bein' caught lookin' atcho life jus' passin' you by; in danger of bein' stuck -- you know where, chile! You gotsta go, girl, and go now. Don't say I ain't never told you nothin' either. You can pay me later. Just go."

I would rather say that I finally made my own choices as opposed to dealing with decisions after they'd been dealt to me.

I would rather say that I paid myself first -- handsomely -- with dividends, not debt.

I would rather say "Yeah. I've been there. It was ____," as opposed to "Ooooh, I wanna do that, too."

Now what would you rather say, chums?
